Trustees have the opportunity to work with and for Kahungunu living in Wellington, it is a rewarding role and one that we hope you will share in.
Te Runanga o Ngati Kahungunu ki te Whanganui a Tara
Strategic Plan 2008
Background
On March 16th, 2008, Te Runanga o Ngati Kahungunu ki te Whanganui a Tara held its AGM. At the AGM new Trustees were elected and a new Constitution was approved.
The new Trustees held their first meeting on Monday, April 7th. Te Huia Bill Hamilton was elected Chair, Professor Kathie Irwin was elected Deputy Chair. At the first meeting the Trustees took the decision to work within the framework of the Kahungunu 2026 Vision Plan in the development of its strategic plan. The vision, mission and guiding principles of the Kahungunu 2026 Vision Plan were adopted in this plan. Our intention in taking this action was to ensure that Ngati Kahungunu, wherever we reside, are following the same vision.
Process
The Chair led a workshop on strategic planning with the new Trustees. Each person had the chance to share their moemoea and to discuss what should be our priorities in this region in the next six months and the next twelve months.
On May 8th, 2008, the Trustees held their second meeting of the Runanga. At this meeting the ideas generated at the first meeting were prioritised and drafted as the strategies and actions that appear in this draft strategic plan.
The main ideas framing Kahungunu 2026 have been reproduced here to guide and structure our plan. As this is a plan for our first year we have prioritised those areas that we believe we need to move first on in our region. It will take us some years to develop strategies and action plans to enact all of the guiding principles of the Kahungunu 2026 Vision Plan.
He timata tenei.
We are pleased to be able to offer this draft Strategic Plan as an indication of our intention to work productively and with integrity in Te Whanagui a Tara in the pursuit of the Kahungunu 2026 Vision Plan.
